Stripe subscription and payment integration
Stripe payment gateway, subscriptions, and webhooks wired into your app - billing flows that handle the edge cases.
- Stripe
- Webhooks
- Next.js
- Node.js
- Python
Who this is for
- SaaS founders adding paid plans for the first time
- Businesses adding online checkout to an existing site or app
- Teams whose billing breaks on failed payments, upgrades, or cancellations
- Apps that need webhook handling they can actually trust
What you get built
- Stripe Checkout and payment flows for one-off and recurring charges
- Subscription plans with upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations
- Verified, idempotent webhook handlers so no event is missed or double-processed
- Customer billing portal and invoice access
- Access control that matches billing state, so paying users get what they paid for
- Trials, coupons, invoices, and Stripe Connect for marketplaces and platforms when you need them
Typical engagement scope
Billing model and flows
Map plans, trials, and what should happen on failure and cancellation, before writing code. Billing bugs are expensive, so the edge cases come first.
Build and test
Implement the integration and test it end to end in Stripe's test mode, including failed payments and plan changes.
Go live and monitor
Switch to live mode carefully, with webhook logging in place so billing issues are visible immediately.
Fixed-price gigs
Clearly scoped starting points with a set price, delivery time and number of revisions. Need something bigger or different? Custom projects typically start at $1,000.

Common questions
Does card data touch my servers?+
Not with the standard approach. Stripe's hosted Checkout and Elements collect card details directly, so card numbers never pass through your server. That keeps your compliance burden much lower - I build the integration that way by default.
What are Stripe subscription fees?+
Stripe charges its own processing and billing fees, which depend on your country, payment methods and Stripe plan, so check Stripe's pricing page for current rates. My fee for the integration is separate and agreed as a fixed price after scoping.
Can you fix an existing Stripe integration?+
Yes. Common problems are missed or duplicated webhook events, subscriptions that don't update access correctly, and failed payments that nothing handles. I'll review how it works today, find the gaps, and fix them without disrupting live customers.
What happens when a customer's payment fails?+
That depends on your policy, and it should be decided deliberately: retry for a period, notify the customer, then restrict or cancel access. I'll implement whichever flow you choose and make sure your app and Stripe stay in agreement about the customer's status.
